UPDATE August 7, 2018: The Limited Edition Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 Pro bundle is now available at Amazon in addition to Walmart and Best Buy
We are less than a month away from Spider-Man for PS4 and I have to admit, I’m a little excited. Actually, I take that back, I’m extremely excited. I played a demo during E3 and the attention to detail is absolutely amazing. I took to the streets to walk around, and a squirrel came down from a tree and ran around, doing its squirrel thing, just like a real-life squirrel.
That part really stuck with me, because while web-slinging, swinging, and scaling the New York City skyline is a pure delight, it fascinates me to no end someone at Insomniac took the time to create, animate, and program realistic squirrel behavior. It’s the little touches that add up to something greater than the sum of its parts, and I think Spider-Man is going to be excellent when it finally comes out on September 7. Squirrels.
Anyway here’s everything you need to maximize your personal Spider-Man playing and squirrel-watching experience next month.
Limited Edition Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 Pro 1TB Bundle
If you’ve been on the fence about upgrading to a PS4 Pro, this bundle should push you over the edge. Not only do you get the special Spider-Man PS4 Pro and red-hot controller, you also get a copy of the game, too. It’s the total package. It’s an actual, physical copy of the game, too, and the bundle also includes “digital content.”
There’s nothing that says you HAVE to play Spider-Man on a PS4 Pro. It’s going to work perfectly well on the classic PS4, so if you don’t have one and don’t feel like you want to go Pro, treat yourself. It’s a fine console with many great qualities. The special PS4 Pro is definitely the better deal, and in my opinion, a much cooler product.
4K TV
If you’re going to pick up that awesome new limited edition PS4 Pro bundle, it’s almost a waste of time if you don’t have a 4K TV set. Thankfully 4K TVs came down in price pretty quickly compared to the days when HD sets were the hotness, so you can improve your resolution and put some HDR in your life relatively cheaply.
Marvel’s Spider-Man and Collector’s Box Bundle
This is a GameStop exclusive and it’s sort of the middle ground between the regular edition and the super-cool collector’s edition. You can get it with the game or without, and it even includes two mystery items. What could they be? You’ll have to get the box to find out. I’m not saying anything.
Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4)
Based on what we’ve already seen of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4, I think it’s safe to say Insomniac has done right by Spidey. Why, we even went hands-on with Spider-Man on PS4 and the great news is Insomniac has done a fantastic job, at least in the demo version. It wouldn’t be right to extrapolate the great demo to mean we’re going to get a great game, at least not authoritatively. But I think it’s safe to assume this is going to be great.
There’s also a digital deluxe edition, with a three-suit Spidey Suit Pack, 5 extra skill points, early unlock for the Spider-Drone gadget and a Spider-Man PS4 them from artist Adi Granov.
Or you could just go all-out and get the $150 collector’s edition with a statue, steelbook, special pre-order bonuses, art book and digital content. It’s up to you.
