The SNES Classic Edition In Japan Has A Different Look And A Different Library

[ad_1]

Yesterday’s big news was Nintendo’s announcement of the SNES Classic Edition and its inclusion of Star Fox 2. Coincidentally, the system is also coming out in Japan, and it will be a little different.

Unsurprisingly, the Japanese Classic Edition is modeled after the Japanese Super Famicom and it has a slightly different library. The Japanese versions loses EarthBound, Kirby’s Dream Course, Super Castlevania IV, and Super Punch-Out!! but gains Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Panel de Pon (Tetris Attack), and Super Soccer. Both systems will include Star Fox 2.

The SNES Classic Edition releases September 29 for $79.99.

Our Take
Makes sense that different regions will be getting different games. Personally, I am happy with the North America selection, mostly because of EarthBound. That seems like a big loss for Japan.
