Toshiba has introduced three new Windows 10 notebooks for the education market, ranging from the typical student system to ones that have trendier features — with price tags to match.

The Tecra C40-C1400ED is the type of utilitarian laptop that you might expect to be issued by schools: a 14-inch system with Intel Celeron 3855U processor, 4 gigs of RAM, and budget-friendly starting price of $399.99. It does include a 128GB solid-state drive instead of a traditional hard drive, and features conveniences like a spill-resistant keyboard and a user-replaceable battery. Also in its favor is Toshiba’s “Quality Replacement Guarantee” — if the display or key components (memory, storage drive, motherboard) fail within the first year of ownership, the laptop will be swapped for a new one.

The Portégé A30t-C1300ED comes with the same guarantee, but also features some more upscale specs. These include a 1,920x,1080 (full HD) 13.3-inch touchscreen display, a battery that Toshiba claims will deliver up to 11 hours of battery, and security features like a Trusted Platform Module and the company’s EasyGuard technology. It retains the Celeron 3855 CPU, 4GB of memory, and 128GB SSD, however, while bumping the cost to $629.99.

Last but certainly not least is the Portégé Z20t-C2100ED, which looks to cash in on the convertible craze. The 2-in-1 comes with a 12.5-inch full HD touchscreen that can be detached and used as tablet. Inside is an Intel Core i3-m3-6Y30 processor (and the same amount of RAM and storage as the other systems), along with a pair of batteries, which provide a whopping 17 hours of battery life, according to Toshiba. It’s the priciest of the new trio, coming in at $999.99, though it does essentially combine two devices into one unit and is cheaper than the consumer configurations ZDNet’s Sandra Vogel recently reviewed.

All three new laptops come with Windows 10 Pro installed, and are available now from retailers specializing in selling PCs to institutions.
