First up, Sonic Forces is the official title of the game formerly known as Project Sonic. The announcement for the name was made on the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account earlier today. The tweet also mentions that the first gameplay footage of Modern Sonic would be coming tomorrow.

Sonic Forces was revealed during the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebration in Tokyo last June. It is being developed by Sonic Team and published by SEGA. As far as we know, Sonic Forces will be released in Q4 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

The company also delayed Sonic Mania until Summer 2017. The news was confirmed during a panel at SXSW today.

A SEGA representative provided the following statement to IGN from Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka:

“For SEGA, quality is most important. We stated this last year, and we are committed to doing whatever it takes to make Sonic games the highest quality possible. Though we like to go fast, sometimes, for a great game, you must also wait.”

In January, we learned that Sonic Mania was coming to Nintendo Switch, and it will also release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Sonic Mania was announced during Comic-Con last year.

Stay tuned to IGN for impressions of Sonic Forces tomorrow.
