EditFollow the Rumors to the Golden Sands Outpost
The Golden Sands Outpost is located in the far middle West of the Sea of Thieves. Once you arrive, dock your ship and head to the middle of town, and go to the West end.
You’ll pass a group of merchants scared stiff around one of the Skeleton Crew’s banners, and keep moving onto the West docks to find the Shipwright shop.
The owner is Sharon, and she’ll be yelling about how she’s worried about Wanda. Wanda is the owner of the Weapons Shop at the Golden Sands Outpost – and is curiously not among the other scared merchants. Sharon will report her missing, and ask that you take a look around her shop to make sure everything is OK.
EditSeeker of Wanda’s Treachery
Wanda’s shop is close by, up the small stairs across from the Clothing Shop on the same small island as the rest of the merchant buildings.
The shop is in pretty bad shape, and the person inside isn’t Wanda, but Wonda – her sister. She has no idea where Wanda has gone either, but there are few clues lying around:
On the shop counter, you can find a note that mentions a certain character named “Salty” and some sort of scheme.
On the left side of the shop, look on top of a wooden box for a pendant to inspect – it’s supposed to protect from curses, but has apparently been discarded.
Leaving the shop, you may notice some odd bony footprints in the sand, leading away from the shop.
Follow them down to the Northwest shore near some old boats and inspect the spot where the skeleton footprints stop.
Finding all 3 clues will award the Seeker of Wanda’s Treachery, and you can return to Sharon the Shipwright to learn that Wanda and Salty are no strangers – and used to hang out at Crescent Isle.
As it happens, Crescent Isle is fairly close by – the nearest island to the Northwest in fact – so it will be a quick voyage to get there.
Aside from the poisonous snakes and the occasional skeleton, there’s not much danger on this island. There’s a small dock on the inside of the Northern part of the crescent, but you’ll want to explore close to the inside bay of the Southern part of this isle.
Here you’ll find a skeleton parrot squawking atop a few barrels and debris outside the entrance to a cave system that spans most of the isle. This parrot is in fact “Salty”, and he’s been turned into an undead parrot by a curse most foul.
Speaking to Salty, the parrot will eventually remember fragments of the journey with the missing Wanda – and remembers three islands in particular – which will be your next destinations:
The first island mentioned is Mermaid’s Hideaway – which is located not far from Crescent Isle – in fact it is directly South, just past Sea Dog’s Rest.
The island is home to some large rocky pillars on the South side of the island, and a large sandy shore along the North side, as well as a few skeletons – some which may try to use cannons on the island to fire upon you.
Once you arrive, look along the the North side for a small pond inside the island itself, and on the South side of the pond you’ll find a campsite with a fire.
Near the campfire is a wooden seating plank with one of Wanda’s journals – the item you seek.
The second island mentioned is not far from Plunder Outpost, and the only big island nearby is Thieves’ Haven, down in the far South center of the Sea of Thieves.
This large island can be confusing to navigate – as its made up of three large land masses converging over an inner bay where a network of walkways and a large wrecked ship lie.
If you head through the inner bay, follow the compass through to the far East side of the further land tip, past the rocks to a short sandy beach where you can find a makeshift shelter out of a boat’s hull, next to a painting of some giant crabs.
Here you can find another of Wanda’s journals – another of the items you seek.
The final island is only mentioned as being directly between two outposts – and referencing your map, the only direct source could be The Sunken Grove which sits between Dagger Tooth Outpost and Galleon’s Grave Outpost up in the Northeast region of the Sea of Thieves.
The Sunken Grove is covered on all sides by giant rocky peaks, with narrow trails leading into the center from the North and South.
On the inside of the island is the self-named grove that you can hop down to discover a small pool and waterfall, with a cave above it. Check inside this cave for a forgotten campsite, and look near the benches for the last of Wanda’s journals – the last of the items you seek.
Finding all three will award you the Seeker of Accursed Plans Commendation – and your next task will be to return to Salty the undead parrot back on Crescent Isle.
Sail back to the far West of the Sea of Thieves to return to Crescent Isle where last you spoke to the pirate turned bird.
He’ll be at the same place, outside the cave entrance on the inner bay of the Southern side of the crescent island.
Speak to him to help him regain his memories and start wrapping things up. Before you go, he’ll remember that they used a lab on Wanderers Refuge to make the accursed equipment – the last stop in your journey.
You’ll find Wanda’s lab on Wanderers Refuge, which isn’t that far from Crescent Isle – in fact it’s just opposite of Golden Sands Outpost, off to the Southeast.
Finding the hidden base can be a bit tricky, as the island is fairly large, with a giant rocky arch that covers a sizeable tunnel with a small stream through it in the center of the island.
Head into that tunnel, and start moving to the Northwest side of the island. When you see a small campfire on the right, look to the opposite side of the stream to spot a very tiny opening to the Southwest in the side of the rocky tunnel.
Entering the narrow passage, it will lead into Wanda’s hidden lab, which is littered with alchemy and smithing equipment. In order to complete this quest you’ll need to find the five items of note:
The first item is the Evil Pirate’s Code, written on the front of main alchemy table as you walk in.
The second item is just behind the table to the left, near the blacksmith forge, look to the side to inspect the Blacksmith Tools.
The third item is directly behind the alchemy table, you can find a long scroll against the back wall, and inspect the Scroll.
The fourth item is opposite the blacksmithing tools – as you can find a short path up to a platform with a makeshift bedroom. In the corner of this area is a broken wooden base with wheels where a cannon was once mounted – inspect the Cannon Base.
The final item is on top of the bed itself, in the far right corner. Look on the bed to find and inspect Salty’s Apron.
With all items found, you’ll earn the Seeker of the Warsmith Commendation, as well as the vanity title: Seeker of the Warsmith.
All that’s left is to return back to Sharon the Shipwright and deliver the bad news about Wanda’s new persona…
The Golden Sands Outpost is right nearby to the Northwest, so head on back over to give Sharon the bad news.
Your tale isn’t just for show, however, as Sharon will offer you the Shores of Plenty Sail for free!
What’s more, she’ll tell you to ask Sue the Shipwright at Plunder Outpost to get a Ancient Isles Sail, or talk to Sandra the Shipwright at the Dagger Tooth Outpost to get The Wilds Sail, all for free!
