Pokemon Let's Go: How to Get Through the Seafoam Islands

This underground maze looks mighty confusing, but it’s actually not that bad. The idea is to use your Strong Push Secret Technique to move boulders out of the way and drop them into holes in the floor. This will make them fall to a lower level and form a dam — which stops the strong current and lets you safely swim around. If you mess up and move a boulder into a bad spot, simply exit the room to find the boulder reset to its original position. This Seafoam Islands page is part of the Walkthrough. If at any time you need an overview of the whole game and its chapters, head back to the Main Walkthrough Page.

Pokémon in this Area[edit]

Before entering the Seafoam Islands, make sure to use the potion service to the left of the entrance to fully heal your Pokémon.

Inside the caves can be a little tricky, but after a few trips up and down the different layers of stairs, you’ll start to get the hang of it.

After you enter the cave, head northeast where you’ll find a boulder next to a hole. Push it through, then double back and head up the ramp north of the entrance.

Around the corner, you’ll find an Ice Heal.

Continue heading north and you’ll pass a ladder to find a Coach Trainer, who when beaten, will give you 5 Rare Candies.

Pushing Boulders Around[edit]

Continue east where you’ll find an Escape Rope.

Continue east, then south down the ramp where you’ll find a second block to push through the floor. Do so, then head down the nearest ladder to the north.

Once down the ladder, push the block through the second hole in the floor and snag the 5 Great Balls nearby before heading back upstairs.

Head back west to the ladder near the Coach Trainer and head on down. Head clockwise around the platform you’re on to snag the Max Potion there.

Then head south of where you came down and grab the Super Repel on the second ramp.

Continue north and around a corner, you’ll find the first block you pushed down next to its second hole. Go ahead and push it through to the 3rd floor.

Head back to the ladder you past to the west and head down. Head south where you’ll find TM55 – Ice Beam.

Head back upstairs and to where you found the Max Potion. Head down the ladder there. To the east you’ll find a block waiting to be pushed through into the waterway, blocking half the current.

Now we need to find a way to push the other one through. Heading back to where you found TM-55 and ignore the ladder to the east that heads up, heading instead down the ladder to the west. Once down this ladder, you’ll find an X Speed to the west.

Head north to find a Super Lure near a ladder.

Ignore the ladder for now and head east to attempt to cross the water, where you’ll be swept in the current and forced to land. Near you you’ll find a Big Pearl, grab it.

Next head north where you’ll find a ladder. Go on up the ladder, grab the Super Repel nearby and head on up the next ladder.

You should find the second of the two blocks needed to stop the current waiting to be pushed through. Do so.

Head back down the two ladders you just climbed, then west and back up the ladder there, but grab another Big Pearl to the south first.

Note: at this point, you’ve completed the puzzle to safely exit Seafoam Islands, however, a dormant secret lies lower in the caves. To catch Articuno, keep reading, however, if you wish to exit the cave, skip this section and come back to it later when you’re ready.

Getting to Articuno requires another blocking of current using the blocks on the 3rd level down with the current of water you must block to exit the caves.

Head south, where you can grab a Hyper Potion, and you’ll see four more boulders to the west.

Head west to where you see two blocks side by side. Push the right one forward: so you can maneuver the left one into the hole:

moving aside the third block in your way.

Now push the westernmost one through the hole.

Once you’ve pushed the second block through the hole, drop through yourself, and head north. Make land where you’ll find a Big Pearl:

More importantly, you’ll find the legendary Pokémon Articuno will be right in front of you for the taking.

Catching Articuno will be exactly like you caught Snorlax. You’ll first need to deplete its health to zero before you can enter into the catching mini-game.

You’ll also be on a 5-minute timer, so try to use attacks that are super effective against it like fire-type. If you bring a high-level fire Pokémon, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

If you don’t happen to deplete it’s health all the way down in the five minutes allowed, the Pokémon will disappear, so make sure to SAVE BEFORE INTERACTING WITH IT!

Once you enter the catching phase, make sure to steady Articuno in the middle of your screen using a Nanab berry and try your best to get an Excellent level throw for your best chances of catching it. Of course, it is all luck, so keep trying until that ice bird is safe inside your Pokéball.

Exit the Cave[edit]

Once you’ve caught Articuno (or decided to come back later), head back to the floor with the first river current, and safely cross the water to the east. On the other side, you’ll find 3 Ultra Balls, grab them then head to the ladder up to the southeast.

Climb up it where you’ll find an Ice Stone and another ladder up.

Climb up and you’ll find a Super Lure to the west:

Along with the Super Lure will be a final ladder up leading you to the exit of the cave onto Route 20.
