While Motorola is known and loved for its extensive line of budget phones, it makes a pretty sweet line of midrange phones as well. Its latest additions to its midrange offerings, the Motorola One and Motorola Power One, feature a refined design aesthetic along with some impressive specs.
Here are all the details on the Motorola One and Motorola Power One.
The Motorola One is coming to the U.S.
If you’re a lover of midrange value, then you might want to keep an eye out for the Motorola One when it arrives on U.S. shores. Motorola’s midrange phone will be coming to Best Buy for the princely sum of $399, and it will be up for pre-sale from November 9 and will be released on November 11.
Design and display
For the most part, Motorola’s 2018 phones all have a similar design language. The Motorola One and Motorola One Power continue that trend.
Both the Motorola One and Motorola One Power have a glass-over-aluminum frame. On the back, you’ll find dual-camera modules that are vertically stacked on the left side of the phone. The fingerprint sensor is housed in the Motorola logo on the back of the phones.
You’ll find a 5.9-inch HD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio on the Motorola One. The bezels are minimized on the phone, and there’s a top notch that houses the front-facing camera and speaker.
The Motorola One Power has a slightly larger display coming in at 6.2 inches. It also features Full HD resolution as opposed to HD on the One. Like its smaller sibling, the One Power has a top notch that holds the front-facing camera and speaker.
Specs and battery
Sure the Motorola One and Motorola One Power may look similar, but there are definitely some differences in the hardware.
On the Motorola One you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB of RAM. Storage comes in at 64GB, but there’s a MicroSD slot that allows you to add external storage. The Motorola One Power, on the other hand, features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor along with 4GB of RAM. Storage comes in at 64GB as well, plus a MicroSD Slot for external storage.
The battery is where the big difference is between the Motorola One and Motorola One Power. One the Motorola One you’ll find an ample 3,000mAh battery with Motorola TurboPower charging. While that’s certainly enough to get you through the day, it’s not overly impressive. The Motorola One Power, however, has a massive 5,000mAh battery. Motorola TurboPower charging comes standard as well so you can add about six hours of power in 20 minutes.
Software and special features
The Motorola One and Motorola One Power will both ship with the Android One edition of Android 8.1 Oreo. Since the phones are running Android Go, it will only feature essential Android OS applications along with Moto Apps.
Another benefit of Android One is frequent Updates. Motorola promises the phones will Android 9.0 Pie in the near future, along with the Android update for 2019. Monthly security updates directly from Google are part of the package as well.
Looking for that dual camera flair? Both the Motorola One and Motorola One Power have it.
You’ll find a dual sensor on the rear of the Motorola One with a 13-megapixel primary sensor and an f/2.0 aperture. The secondary lens comes in at 2-megapixels and it sports a narrow f/2.4 aperture. The front-facing camera comes in at 8-megapixels.
For the Motorola One Power, you’ll find a slightly upgraded camera setup. The dual camera module on the One Power has a 16-megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. The secondary lens comes in at 5 megapixels and has a f/2.0 aperture. You’ll find a 12-megapixel selfie camera on the Motorola One Power.
