Divinity: Original Sin Developer Might Be Teasing Baldur's Gate 3

[ad_1]

The Baldur’s Gate trilogy isn’t complete. Since the release of Baldur’s Gate in 1998 and Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn in 2000, Bioware stepped away from the series and left the remastered Enhanced Editions to developer Beamdog. Since as early as 2012, a third installment in the series has been teased by Beamdog until it’s possible development was halted do to contractual issues. Now, at long last, Baldur’s Gate III could be in development, just not by Beamdog.

Larian Studios, the developer of Divinity: Original Sin 2, released a logo on its website today, featured above. While speculation flew about a possible Divinity: Original Sin 3, Twitter user @kunkken dug into the site’s HTML and unearthed possible evidence of a Baldur’s Gate 3.

Founder of InXile Entertainment and Interplay Entertainment Brian Fargo took to Twitter as well, seemingly confirming the rumor.

So how possible is all of this? In 2018, Brian Fargo confirmed on Twitter that a Baldur’s Gate 3 was in development and that he knew who was working on it, but the industry vet declined to comment further. Additionaly, in 2018, a RPG Codex forum seemingly leaked details that Larian founder and CEO Swen Vincke had the license for Baldur’s Gate, but Larian denied that news as well.

While there is currently a lot of speculation about this project, there is plenty of evidence to both support and debunk this rumor. Though the teaser image has no release date or further information, it is possible that we’ll hear more about Baldur’s Gate 3 during the build up to E3 or at the show itself.
