Check Out Cuphead's First Few Levels

Studio MDHR’s Cuphead has been turning heads since it was first announced at Microsoft’s E3 press conference back in 2014. In addition to its old-school visuals, which are reminiscent of classic cartoons from the ’20s and ’30s, the gameplay itself is an homage to retro games such as Contra and Gunstar Heroes. Join us as we play through the first couple of levels and show off how the game looks as we approach its long-awaited release.

Knowing that this one might be a little tough, we took a slightly different approach from most of our other videos. This one demands the highest levels of concentration; gabbing and playing at the same time simply wouldn’t do. Leo Vader and Intern George played the game earlier, steadily getting better as they braved the cute-but-deadly challenge and focused 100-percent of their attention on the task at hand. A few hours later, Leo and I returned to the studio to provide super-smart and insightful commentary on what happened. 

Cuphead is coming to Xbox One and PC on September 29.
